Oesterreichische Kontrollbank Aktiengesellschaft (OeKB), an Austrian banking corporation, was established in 1946 to provide certain specialised banking services to Austrian business outside the scope of routine commercial banking functions. OeKB does not take retail deposits nor engage in general lending or other commercial banking activities.
OeKB is organised as a private entity. The majority of the share capital is owned by leading commercial banks located in Austria. The shares are issued in registered form and are not listed on the stock exchange. OeKB's main office is located at Am Hof 4, 1010 Vienna, Austria.
Since 1950 OeKB has acted as the sole agent of the Austrian government (the Republic of Austria, represented by the federal ministry of finance) for the administration of guarantees issued by the Republic.
Beginning in 1960, OeKB became involved in the financing and promotion of Austrian exports. OeKB supplies medium- and long-term financing to banks and foreign importers for export transactions.
OeKB also plays a central role in the Austrian capital market by providing securities services.
OeKB as a link
As well, we offer financial and business information services and provide clearing and risk management for the Austrian energy market via OeKB's energy market center of excellence.
With its wide range of specialised services, OeKB is the link to and between the export sector, the banking sector, capital market participants, the relevant ministries and institutions as well as its shareholders.
A strong domestic and international market position, keen customer focus and rich portfolio of innovative products and services are major success factors of OeKB's strategic positioning.
