On March 24, 2018, the WWF EARTH HOUR, the world's largest climate protection event takes place. Millions of people will turn off the light for an hour – anywhere on the planet. OeKB supports the initiative.

Why an Earth Hour?

The oceans are warming up, glaciers are retreating, the deserts are spreading: in order to prevent the worst effects of climate change, we must consume significantly less energy, switch to environmentally friendly renewable energies and protect the forests and oceans for climate regulation. Politics must create framework conditions, companies must save greenhouse gases, but each and every one must show responsibility!

In order to raise awareness in this regard, the WWF EARTH HOUR the world's largest climate protection campaign - will once again be held this year. On March 24, 2018, from 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm local time, people around the globe will let the lights go out and thus set an active example for more climate protection.

Energy management of OeKB

Not only at the EARTH HOUR, but 365 days a year, 24 hours a day, we strive to keep our energy consumption as low as possible. Therefore, we have, for example, consciously decided not to have facade lighting. We continuously monitor and optimize energy consumption at all our locations. For example, we use waste heat to heat the Strauchgasse location. The building can now be heated up to an outside temperature of 6 ° C exclusively with waste heat.

Your personal EARTH HOUR

You can easily make your contribution to climate protection by attending the EARTH HOUR on Saturday, March 24, 2018, from 8:30 to 9:30 pm. Why not even switch off as many power sources as possible (TV, PC, light etc.) and enjoy the evening with candlelight with a good meal or a cozy chat in the circle of friends or family?
