The country category for Nicaragua has been downgraded from 6 to 7 (out of 7) at the OECD Country Risk Meeting having taken place from 24 to 25 October 2018.

April’s unrest in the country and country-wide demonstrations against President Ortega have effected the economy and especially the tourism sector. A decline of 1% of the economic performance is expected for the year 2018.
